Palomar Pomerado Health offers numerous volunteer opportunities for all ages in a variety of facilities. Palomar Pomerado Health is the largest health care provider in Inland North San Diego County and includes the 319-bed Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, 107-bed Pomerado Hospital in Poway, two skilled nursing facilities, home health services and wellness programs.
Palomar Medical Center Auxiliary
The Auxiliary of Palomar Medical Center was founded in 1958 and is an organization of men and women who have donated thousands of hours to Palomar Medical Center and its many programs. The volunteers are a tremendous asset to the hospital and its staff.
TheAuxiliary members supplement the hospital staff's activities by performing duties that do not require professional medical training. Volunteers staff the Lobby Reception Desk, provide transportation for patients within the hospital, and assist in many areas of the hospital including the Emergency Department, Birth Center, Laboratory, Critical Care Unit, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Surgery Waiting Room, Outpatient and Acute Rehabilitation and the Escondido Surgery Center. Through the Gift Shop, the Auxiliary raises funds to purchase hospital equipment and to award $15,000 in scholarships each year to students pursuing a career in the medical field.
In addition, there are over 150 high school students in the Student Volunteer program. Volunteering gives them the opportunity to observe the medical field first-hand.

Pomerado Hospital Auxiliary
Pomerado Hospital Auxiliary is an organization of men and women who volunteer at Pomerado Hospital and its convalescent center, Villa Pomerado. Founded in 1976, the Auxiliary provides volunteers to staff the reception desks, run the gift shop, make baby caps for the newborns and hand puppets for visiting children, make tray cards for patients, remind new parents of upcoming immunizations, request blood donations, transport patients within the hospital,distribute newspapers and magazines, comfort patients and families, and help in the cafeteria, emergency department, birth center, convalescent center, and other hospital departments. The Student Volunteer program gives high school students the opportunity to volunteer in the hospital and convalescent center. The Auxiliary also raises funds to purchase hospital equipment and award medical scholarships.
